      Cyclone Jawad has weakened into a deep depression and continues to weaken as it is expected to move north-northeastwards along Odisha coast towards the West Bengal coast during the next 24 hours.

      Jawad should reach near Puri on Sunday, December 5. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted in North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore and Jhargram districts.

      Cyclone Jawad will likely weaken into a tropical depression before heading to Puri in Odisha on Sunday. Jawad should move northwards during the next 12 hours and then north-northeastwards along the coast of Odisha.

      It is currently located 390km southwest of Puri. The system should then move away from Puri on Sunday evening, December 5.

      Very heavy rainfall is forecasted on Saturday in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south coastal Odisha.

      Red warning was issued for Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam and red alert for Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur districts of Odisha.

      Jawad has intensified from a deep depression into cyclonic storm on Friday morning over the southeast Bay of Bengal. The storm has currently winds of 64 km/h (35 kt), located approximately 420 km south-southeast of Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

      Further intensification is expected in the next 12 hours. Jawad is then forecasted to reach the coasts of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha this Saturday, December 4th.

      The storm will bring heavy to extremely heavy rainfall to parts of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Gangetic West Bengal. Winds may reach up to 80 to 90 km/h with gusting 100km/h.
