Slow in update for EC and GFS
-
Usually the GFS gets update after T+5 (or T+6 at the latest) on Windy, but recently it takes more than T+7 hours after the initialization time. I see Tropical Tidbits gets update really quick in every run cycle consistently (usually in T+5). I re-confirm it shouldn't be the problem from GFS as there is no service outage notice.
EC has always been even slower.
As a premium member, I really want to make the improvement. Thanks!

@dicksonfu Hello, GFS model is updated every 6 to 7 hours as usual. What do you mean with EC?
-
@korina You are right that GFS updates 4 times a day in every 6 hours interval on Windy.com, but what I want to point out is the update of GFS comes out lately.
In the past, the update usually comes out after T+5 (e.g. 00Z data becomes available at 05Z) but now it takes much longer time to get the update. (recently delay to T+8)
I want the latest forecast as soon as possible. Other GFS data website such as Tropical Tidbits and Weather.us release the latest forecast earlier than Windy.com so I believe it is not the GFS problem itself.

@dicksonfu Hello, you can see the updates here. GFS updates every 6-7 hours.

@korina According to the info you referred above, It supposes there is another update by 18 UTC, however as of now (19 UTC) still no update. The GFS gets update lately.
The GFS model info shown on Windy as below.
Updated 7h ago (ref 06Z)
Next update expected at: 02:53 AM (HKT/GMT+8), now at any moment
Update interval: 6 - 7 hrs
Reference time: 2022-01-10T06:00:00Z -
@dicksonfu Hello, we are aware of the delay and we are currently trying to find ways how to optimize it.
-
@korina I am waiting for the GFS model (data reference time: 12UTC) which supposes to be available by 18UTC (usually on or before 17:30 UTC). The model info shown on the Windy saying the GFS update will be at 19:40 UTC.
Other competitors such as Weather.us and Tropical Tidbits have all released the 12 UTC GFS model data couple of hours ago.
-
Hello @dicksonfu, both models are now updated.
Sometimes there can be an issue that we try to solve as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding. -
@petra-pik Thanks for your team working on this problem. Unfortunately, the GFS update on Windy still have delay as of the latest model run. Hopefully, your team can find the root cause and fix it properly. Thanks!

@dicksonfu thanks for notifying us. We've switched from NOAA NOMADS to NOAA FTPPRD as our import source. FTPPRD seems to be faster in serving us data, which was slowing our import from NOMADS before. Latest update (reference time 2022-01-17T06:00:00Z) is already available as for now (2022-01-17T11:20:00Z)
