Solved AROME data outage
-
Great to hear that. Arome hour by hour info is the only model I use now :)
-
@korina please, think about the premium subscriptions, choose to get the best meteo resolution and top quality forecast: at the moment, we are getting a cell resolution of 4km (NEMS, 2 hours forecast) instead of 1.25~2.5km (AROME, 1 hour forecast)... This is a huge disservice! ☹️

@alessiocasti
This is not a disservice ! If the model provider i.e. Meteo France announces a provisional outage, what Windy can do about it? -
Hi, i‘m also using AROME a lot and was wondering what happend with arome. Looking forward to have it back in windy! Will you include NEMS also in the overview tools in the app? I see currently ECMF, Icon, meteoblue and GFS only. Thanks Lorenz
-
@lorenz-fly
I don’t think NEMS will be included in the overview tool for comparing models. NEMS is one of the models that are run by the Meteoblue company. They provide their METEOBLUE AI model for point forecast to Windy and this model to some extend includes already NEMS. See some discussion about it here. -
I was worried too about Arome so l Hope it will be back as soon as possible ! Thanks 🙏

Ok, what am I missing? Please, tell me the difference (without AROME) between PREMIUM user and NO-PAYING user...
-
@alessiocasti
When you subscribed you have probably noticed this table showing the difference between Premium users and non Premium users. -
@alessiocasti Hello, all the other models are still available with more frequent updates. AROME model has unfortunately outage and we cannot do anything about it, since it is under maintenance by its provider.
-
@idefix37 yeah sure! I'm not able to read the high resolution 1h forecast with the premium subscription at the moment. Can you do it? Which model are you using?
-
@alessiocasti
I understand that you are referring to the ‘High resolution 1 hour forecast’ as promised in the table I have shown here above. It should not be considered as ‘high resolution areal forecast’. For instance with or without Premium the GFS model keeps a 22km resolution. But it means that forecast data are provided with a high density per day i.e with 1h-step. I agree that in this case the term ‘high resolution’ can be confusing.
Personally I use the model of ECMWF (IFS) for several days forecast, then ICON and finally AROME for current and next day forecast. -
@alessiocasti Hello, as mentioned by @idefix37, I recommend to use ECMWF, which is considered the most accurate model and is available in 1hr steps.

Hello
I think that the AROME format has changed from 26 of January as stated in METEO FRANCE post
https://donneespubliques.meteofrance.fr/
I guess it may require some adaptations to be available again with Windy ?
Thanks

@erick3195 The AROME model will be available on Windy once the provider finishes the maintenance process, which should be very soon.
-
@korina Thank you for all boaters who use and love windy before all their sea trips! All the best !
-
@korina Hello
I think that the evolution is now finished at METEO FRANCE since 26 January. https://donneespubliques.meteofrance.fr/?fond=produit&id_produit=131&id_rubrique=51
Other sites show AROME outputs (Windguru, Wxcharts, Shom...) on regular basis since then
I'm working for a METEO FRANCE subsidiary with contacts at METEO FRANCE- If I can help...just tell me
Please confirm
Thanks -
@erick3195 Thank you for your insight. Our source is v2 dataset which still seems to be unavailable (no recent data): https://mf-models-on-aws.org/#arome-france-hd/v2/
-
@filip_k Any idea from them about when will be available again? It's by far the most accurate in my area and I miss it a lot.
-
@marcopelle We are totally dependent on v2 datasource (as mentioned many times before). Latest data available on https://mf-models-on-aws.org/#arome-france-hd/v2/ are still from January (2022-01-11).
You can monitor this link to see if new data are available (as we are doing). Until new data appear, there is not much we can do about it -
@filip_k
I imagine you have investigate this page too ?https://donneespubliques.meteofrance.fr/?fond=produit&id_produit=131&id_rubrique=51
