Sudbury, ONtario radar image not working for past and real time images
-
I have noticed for months now there is no current(real-time) radar available coverage around Sudbury/North Bay, Ontario Canada areas. I frequently have to travel through that area from Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Since our highways/mto cameras are so poor especially in the winter I rely on Windy’s radar app to help plan my trips. Will this be fixed soon?

Strange that Sudbury isn't on there.
In the meantime, just use Environment Canada's site. The new presentation has a lot of sucky elements (ie: not north aligned except in the middle longitude of Canada. Make's St-John's esp whacky looking...). But does have transparency settings for the radar image. Also shows US radar down as far as Puerto Rico, but the map is missing south of Ohio latitudes.
(The iPhone app Env. Canada is correctly north up).

The current algorithm often drops the last image or has strange artifacts.

@alanthebeast @EL_KL Hello, thank you for suggestion. We currently do not have radar source for this location, but we will look into this.

@korina Thank you for looking into this. I found the actual radar that was previously used (Britt, Ontario). It is still functional but available thru the Canadian Historical Weather Radar website. Maybe this site can be linked somehow for the windy map app.

@el_kl the other thought is that when you linked the canadian radars this past year Environment Canada was in the process of switching all of their links over to a new mapping system and for some reason the radar coverage for Sudbury/North Bay area might have been missing at that time. It seems there is a now a full complement of radar coverage across Canada now. There is one radar site along the western Quebec border (Rouyn/Val D'Or ) site that never became visible with the new Canadian web mapping service.
