this persists. does anyone at windy cares about this issue?

i'm going to delete the app if this is not fixed and only use the website.

@nuamadresa Hello, you screenshot does not show how much Windy actually use the battery. I tried to replicate this and Windy took 2% of battery.

@korina said in battery drain iOS 15 while NOT using app:

@nuamadresa Hello, you screenshot does not show how much Windy actually use the battery. I tried to replicate this and Windy took 2% of battery.

the percent is not shown but tapping the "show activity" menu shows 1 minute in background.

my concern is: why would any app run at all if the device is sleeping in low power mode in airplane mode? doesn't apple offer some API so you can go back to sleep immediately if there is no network connectivity? and how do you even technically manage to escape low power mode to wake up in background periodically?

also, can the app/widget be configured to update less often? I suspect the cause is not the app but the widget.

@nuamadresa Hello, the Low power mode is purely a system feature, we cannot affect this in any way with our code. The system itself decides to "wake up" the app if it thinks that certain information is needed. This can happen when you change your location, system then wakes the widget up to reload it and obtain a new location.

@korina I'm sorry but I don't think your argument is valid.

I have 7 other weather apps and their widgets enabled.

ONLY WINDY periodically wakes up when phone is idling face down, airplane mode, low power mode, location services turned off! 🤬🤬🤬

@nuamadresa Hello, this is unfortunately a matter of iOS system. It can evaluate each app differently.
