      My tide arrows are indicating opposite flow to the true direction ie the arrows indicate tide flowing out towards high tide and vice versa.

        Since you don't give more details (where and when...), it's hard to understand what you mean. In addition are you talking about water level arrows or tidal current arrows?
        Concerning the water level change, in this example the arrow shows at 9:00 the variation from low to high tide and it's consistent.

        If you consider the tidal currents map, it is important to note that its low resolution, based on water surface altimetry, is not able to provide a very accurate information near some coast specially in bays or estuaries where in addition the tidal current and water level may be shift.
