      Hi,

      Swell period mapping is extremely helpfully in visualizing the propagation of swells from storms. These types of maps are very popular with surfers and other forecasters and data is available from WaveWatch3 outputs, etc. Just plotting swell height does not draw out the timing and travel of swells in the ocean as longer period swell amplitudes can be smaller. Again, this is a common visualization for ocean waves and available elsewhere.
