Windy Apple Watch: Complete Guide
-
Whether you are out doing sports or simply do not have time to reach out for your phone, the Apple Watch version of Windy is here for you to give you the most recent weather forecast along with new exciting features right from your wrist.
Let's take a look at all the options Windy gives you with your Apple Watch. When you open the app, you will find several choices from Forecast to Weather radar. Find what each of them mean below.
Forecast
The first option in the menu is Forecast, where you will find forecast for the next upcoming 10 days in 3 hour intervals. You can click on each hour interval to access more detailed overview containing information about Rain, Wind, Wind direction and Dew point. Use digital crown to scroll up/down.
Wind forecast
Wind forecast shows forecasted wind strength for the next 2 days in the current location. For moving the timeline, use the digital drown on the side of Apple Watch.
METARs
If you have any METARs in favorites in the app and have accessible iCloud, those METARs will be synchronised with your Watch and you will see them here.
In case you do not have any saved METARs nor you have active iCloud, you can still search for airports manually by typing ICAO codes or you can view airports nearby in the "Around" option.
You can save airports with "Add METAR" and start receiving METAR notifications by turning on "Notify me once of METAR update" option in the airport detail.
Radar (beta)
Radar shows Doppler radar composite. Use digital crown to zoom in or zoom out on the map.
Tapping on the map will hide control elements, so you can view radar map without any disturbing components.
Watch Faces and Complications
Windy comes with its own Watch Face and you can add it directly on your watch under Watch Faces or in the Watch application on your iPhone.
You can customise each Face according to your wish with Complications that are available within each Watch Face.
Complications are also shortcuts to access a specific functions of an app. Windy offers Infograph Modular Face.
Please also note that Complications are only available for Apple Watch ver. 4 or above.
Settings
Here you can choose whether you would like to synchronise your units selection from the app or set units manually. If you do not have active iCloud, units will not synchronise.

wow nice

Well done!! It seems really nice!
I own a Samsung Gear S3 with circular screen. It is not android, it runs Tizen.
I would really love to have the Windy app on my watch, but I understand that the development for another ecosystem is costly and demands hours. So, I keep my fingers crossed for the case that you might be able to do it!!Keep up the excellent work!!
-
@edaskal Happy that you like it! If there will be enough demand from our users, we may consider it :)
-
@korina I'd also like the Tizen app please! I'd love windy on my Gear S3 watch
-
@korina I love your APP!!!!!, I have an anual subscription y use it both in PC and Android :). when it´s going to be available for Samsung Galaxy 4 OS wear watch? Thanks
-
@krieggus Happy to hear it! If we gather enough feedback, we may consider it.
-
Would love to see actual weather station data (wind rose, wind graph) on my watch. Would be super useful when your out and about on the beach to check the wind trends upwind from the spot!
-
@martin-salem Thank you for input, we will consider it.
-
Hi @Korina, how does one set the location on the watch app? It keeps showing me wind for my current location, but I need to see wind data for specific areas out on the water before I head out.
Thanks,
Mike -
@mike300zxt Hello, we are currently preparing to add this option, but only for daily forecast, not the wind.
-
@Korina Hello. After I updated my watchOS to 10.1, the Watch widget keeps showing Prague as location for forecasts and radar. But I live in a different country. How can I change this? I don’t even see Prague as a saved location in my iPhone Windy app. Thanks in advance!

@gs777 Hi, we are aware of this issue and colleagues are working on the fix now. Thank you for your patience with the issue.
It's January 2024 and you still haven't solved the problem, which in my opinion is serious since it doesn't allow you to use complications. How many months will it take before you solve it? Thank you.
-
@Arzaga-Milano Hi, this issue should be already solved, you can access your current location or it is possible to create new locations in settings.
-
@Korina i use Garmin d2 mach 1
I really Wish Windy would work on it -
Is that possible to add waves forecast to AppleWatch widget ?
-
@Bartłomiej-Czech Unfortunately, it is not possible or planned now.

Ou et comment puis-je « charger » l’écran Windy pour mon Apple Watch ?
