I was sufficiently impressed by Windy.com to start subscribing to its premium subscription. Soon I will have to renew this and now wonder whether it’s worth doing so.

I do not understand enough of this app to make the most of it. I’ve worked out how to set alerts but I am still not sure how to interpret them. I have gone through numerous online help articles and tutorials but cannot find one that answers my basic queries.

I am not a surfer or sailor or paraglider; I’m only concerned with being able to forecast rain, wind (storms) and high waves.

I am based in Thailand and i live by the sea. I do not speak Thai so I cannot avail myself of ‘reliable’ local weather forecasts. For mostly recreational (and to some extent safety) reasons, I would like to access reliable weather forecasts for my location on a daily/ weekly basis.

Is Windy.com for me or should I be trying something else?

      Grateful for advice

      Raymond

Thanks for following up on this.

Let me use the example above. When I look at this, I see the temperatures, rainfall etc but I can’t see how this ‘summary’ is related to ‘waves’.

Then I click on the alert and see this:
          16C76F11-69E1-4A2A-B20D-FF017A1705E8.jpeg

I don’t understand how to interpret the additional details here - the arrows for example.

Also, I don’t understand how to use the various ‘icons’ on the menu below. Do I need to adjust this to interpret the alerts? What does ‘swell’ and ‘swell 2’ mean….? Where to I go for a glossary of the terms used on this app. Another example is rain forecast. Which of these menu items should I be using. What is
What is ‘rain accumulation’? I get no definitive explanation of this in online searches. ![0_1644975605406_76837073-A904-4C91-945A-33E36D4743D9.png](Uploading 100%) 🙏

‘ Where to I go for a glossary of the terms used on this app’

In Windy community forum, see the FAQ, and more specifically the description of weather overlays
            https://community.windy.com/topic/3361/description-of-weather-overlays

Arrows in the map and in the table show the direction of waves.
If you are not interested by surfing, just consider the Waves layer (the total ones that you observe locally). Alerts for waves are based on this category of waves

@salacoco Hello, as @idefix37 mentioned, please look at the layers descriptions, nevertheless they are also available in the app in the side menu under "About these data".

If you set your alert for waves, then the little bells in the detailed view tell you when the forecasted data meet your alert conditions.
