There is no best setting.
Basic shows different parameters (rain, clouds, temperature, wind, gusts…)predicted by a weather model that you select.
Wind displays the wind and gusts predicted by all models available in Windy, and so you can compare them.

37 G:53 means the averaged wind is 37 knots and gusts 53 knots, if you selected knots for wind speed unit.
