Real speed wind overlay
-
I would quite like to see a real speed wind overlay: the speed of the arrows showing wind are obviously faster than the real speed, eg cross the width of the UK in just a second or two which would equate to about 300 miles per second wind speed. It would be interesting to see the arrows represent the flow of the wind at a real speed, so 100mph wind would cross the width of the UK in a few hours (depending on zoom).

@stuartmcp
And so you would like to stay hours at looking the wind crossing UK? -
I kind of like the idea and I think I did make this suggestion before somewhere on this forum. I can imagine it to be an interesting aspect for a better real world weather visualisation.
Of course it’s not something to look at with a low zoom level (from far away). But with a medium or big zoom level, why not?In the settings there is a slider for wind animation speed. There got to be some numbers behind this UI. So why not make the lowest speed on the slider the “real wind speed”? Can’t be that hard to add to the code.
If you don’t like it, you don’t have to use it @idefix37 😋

@stuartmcp I agree, the current wind animation right now is nearly useless as it is not reflecting the numerical values of the predicted wind speed.
You can modify the animation settings to be something like this:
