Cyclone Emnati hits Madagascar

Cyclone Emnati struck the southeastern side of Madagascar as Category 1 cyclone with winds of up to 135 km/h. More than 30,000 people were evacuated ahead of Emnati's path.
It is estimated that more than 250,000 people could have been impacted by the cyclone. Emnati caused extensive damage to houses and other buildings.

Cyclone Emnati is making landfall over Madagascar between cities Mananjary and Manakara as Category 1 system.

TC Emnati is now about 12 hours away from the landfall over the eastern coast of Madagascar. The 4th tropical cyclone to affect Madagascar this year has weakened to Category 1 with maximum sustainable winds of 148 km/h.
It is no longer expected to regain the strength of cyclone Category 3, however still remains a very dangerous.
Impacts will likely be significant, heavy rainfall and strong winds expected.

Cyclone Emnati is keeping its status of Category 3 hurricane with maximum winds of 185 km/h. Conditions also remain very favourable for re-strenghtening before striking the coasts.
Landfall will occur on the eastern coast of Madagascar late Tuesday.

Cyclone is located near 17.6S 54.6E with maximum winds of 203 km/h. Emnati is expected to reach Category 4 before making Madagascar landfall on the eastern coastline on Tuesday.
Due to expected heavy rainfall, there is a threat for damaging winds and flooding rain.

Tropical cyclone Emnati is currently tracking towards Madagascar with status of Category 3 hurricane, it is the third cyclone to affect Madagascar this month after cyclones Batsirai and Dumako.
Cyclone should hit the coastal areas of Toamasina, Madagascar, RĂ©union and Mauritius on Tuesday.
Maximum winds at the moment are 194 km/h. Heavy rainfall is expected in advance.

Cyclone Emnati will be far away from MAURITIUS on Tuesday, it is now moving away, was the closest this Sunday morning. It will indeed make landfall on the coast of MADAGASCAR on Tuesday.
