Forecast alerts and warnings rather than just observations
-
Am I missing something with Windy premium?
I would like to receive alerts of a predicted event (such as rainfall, wind speeds, heat). I have alerts set up (at least one for over 12 months, as I'm into my second year of subscription), however, since I haven't actually received any alerts yet, I have come to realise that the alerts are only for observed conditions.
The other day I was trying to convince a family member to get Windy premium and they're also only interested in warnings/alerts for conditions forecast to happen. Since I couldn't show them that function, they weren't convinced.
(If the function is there and I just haven't found it yet, please enlighten me). -

Alerts in Windy are not for observed conditions but for predicted ones.
To receive alerts you must set only one parameter because if you combine e.g. wind, temperature and rain… the probability to get an alert is very low. That would mean you want your wind condition AND your temperature condition AND your rain condition are met at same time.
And do not forget to save your setting at bottom of page.If you want to set several alerts at a location, there is a workaround: you need to set several independent alerts close to your spot :

I do have independent alerts set up, for each type and for each location.
I may have to change some limits though because I have never received an alert despite having alerts turned on (hence why I thought it must be an observation rather than forecast - forecast I should definitely have received something). -
Which alert notification type have you chosen?

@idefix37
Only mobile notifications. I haven’t turned the email notifications on.
I have just deleted all of my alerts and recreated them. I will see how it goes as there’s every chance I still created them wrong to begin with. -
@kez77
Hope you have enabled notifications by Windy on your phone and saved your new settings. -

Just to let you know that once I deleted the old alerts and saved new ones, I have been receiving alerts for forecast weather that meets the alert criteria. 👍🏻 -
