TC Fili moving away from New Caledonia

Cyclone Fili continues to impact New Caledonia with strong to gale force winds. The system is moving to the south southeast away from the island, it is currently located near 22.6S 164.4E.
Maximum sustainable winds, close to the center, are 83 km/h (45 kt), severe conditions should ease off by Friday morning.

Tropical cyclone Fili has reached Category 2 in the South Pacific and is now located northwest of New Caledonia with maximum winds of 101 km/h (55 kt).
New Caledonian authorities have placed the Northern area on an alert level 2 for cyclone preparedness and five other northern districts are at alert level one.
The outer bands of the cyclone are causing heavy rains to the island, however there is no threat of a direct landfall at the moment.
Threats
The system may further cause flooding accompanied by damaging winds across New Caledonia through Thursday, local time.
