For what hight above sea level is this data given ?

This data is provided by GEOS-5 (NASA) as detailed here:
https://gmao.gsfc.nasa.gov/research/aerosol/modeling/nr1_movie/
It is the Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) measured by satellite on the total atmospheric height. -

@idefix37 I apologize for the ping on an old thread but thank you so much for the info! I was also looking for the Windy dust mass data source and this was very useful!
Do you happen to know if there is a solid archive of this sort of data that might represent Windy’s dust mass? I found a data source based on GEOS-5 from GES DISC that has about a million dust-related variables. Might just have to experiment a bit.
