BIG Spring update full of new features: Part 2/3 - HRRR arrives to Windy.com

HRRR joins Windy! We have carefully listened to your suggestions and selected yet another reliable model as a new addition. The newly implemented model is HRRR (High-Resolution Rapid Refresh).
The HRRR is a NOAA real-time 3-km resolution, hourly updated, cloud-resolving, convection-allowing atmospheric model, initialized by 3km grids with 3km radar assimilation. Radar data is assimilated in the HRRR every 15 min over a 1-h period adding further detail to that provided by the hourly data assimilation from the 13km radar-enhanced Rapid Refresh.
Main attributes:
- update intervals 1 hour (3 hours for Alaska)
- 3 km resolution
- local model for North America

What layers is HRRR available for?
Model HRRR is available for the following weather layers: Wind, Wind gusts, Wind accumulation, Rain, Thunder, Rain accumulation, New snow, Precip. Type, Temperature, Dew point, Humidity, Clouds, High clouds, Medium clouds, Low clouds, CAPE index, Thermals, Pressure.
Where to find it?
HRRR is local model available for North America and it shares the same map coverage as NAM model. It is available both for desktop and app users.
To select it, open the side menu (in the app) or click on the navigation bar in the bottom right corner (on desktop).
You can also view it in the detailed forecast and compare it with other available weather models for the selected location.
