Widget not updating
-
@zgfg I have the exact same problem on my Google Pixel 7 Pro since the last app update. Running the latest Android 13 which isn't beta. Pls come up with a fix asap.
-
Same issue on my s20.... I've tried all the "fixes" and nothing works... the only way is to delete the widget and re-add it every time. Every other widget I've tried works just fine so it's clearly a Windy issue.

REVISED: All the permissions were already set properly. Uninstall and reinstall, then redo the widgets made some progress. (Got a few requests for permissions again.) Rebooting seems to show the content of the widget (it was blank before) BUT, the Updating Widget icon in the status bar never goes away and the Widget never updates.

Problem has returned. When the device is started, blank radar widget with spinning icon. The only fixes are either deleting the widget and re-creating it, or clearing cache. Furthermore, the widget does not update. Reverting back to the previous version of Windy until this gets fixed...

Google Pixel 6, latest update, all permissions on, widget doesn't update the current temperature (forecast updates fine). Also three dots button on widget is nonfunctional and the previous "refresh" icon is gone. Very poor update.

Galaxy S21, Android 13, same story

I had the same issue on Samsung A53, tried all the permission grants as written in many comments, but still no success.
What helped me though and seemed to be the missing step was unchecking the "Remove permission if app is unused" checkbox under the app info (long press the widget, then hit "i" to get there). Since I unchecked this, the widget update notification disappeared and the widget is updated regularly.

Please can you check the last update released at the end of the week? It should solve all issues with bad communication of widgets, more info here.

latest update broke widget on my side, redmi note 9 with android 12
-
@Václav-Poláček Did you reset your widgets after the update and check our article? Did you mean update from the last Friday or any other from v.38 to 39? Could you please the whole issue?
-
@Ondřej-Šutera seems to be working, restart was needed... but updating widget message stays in the notification forever :)
-
I had the same issue as stated above and none of the given solution worked, except reinstalling the app. Samsung Galaxy A32.
-
@Konrad-Jarecki-Pawlikowski Hi there, which version of Windy you have now? These issues should be mainly solved in the last version.
-
@Ondřej-Šutera I had and have the latest version and as for now it's OK after the reinstall.
-
All widgets are not loading on my Samsung Fold 5. I have the most recent version (just downloaded from the app store).
-
@IvanCZ Please check this article, there is a link at the bottom that could help you to fix this.

I had to roll back to version 39.1.4 (just download it from e.g. apkmirror, uninstall the current version, and install your downloaded APK) to get the widgets to work. I didn't test all the versions between that one and the latest, but just looked at the comments here and in the Google play store to see roughly when they were broken. There doesn't appear to be any discernable difference between 39.1.4 and 39.3.2, so I guess I'll stick with the older version since it works.

Newly updated to premium phone Samsung S23 ultra and also then decided to upgrade to premium windy. Same issue as all of the above contrubutors going back over a year and affecting many premium android brands. What's the fix windy ??
Widget does not update and settings menu is unresponsive. All settings checked correct. I have used windy almost since its inception to obtaining aviation weather and it needs to work seamlessly for me, otherwise it going to the recycle bin with an accompanying request for the return of my upgrade fee. -
@GraemeMcCrindle Hi, basically Samsung devices are most tested devices on our end and we have no issues now. Is it possible that you are using certain optimalization apps in the background? We don't know about any other reasons why you should have issues with widgets.
-
@Suty, is this finally resolved? I am using Samsung S23 Ultra, Android Version 14, Windy updated to latest version, all permissions set and checked as described above. However, the widget remains blank.
