      Hello
I have a suggestion for the trajectory/tracking plugin or for a similar plugin to expand windy's capabilities.

I would like to be able to track cloud from the satellite or weather radar layer. Unfortunately the plugin wants model data to work.
Is it possible to select the model for trajectory calculation while still being on the satellite layer? (one can go back and forward between model layer but it is a more complicated)

Can a user defined trajectory be made? ideally the user would select multiple points along a line at different time steps and then the plugin would calculate a linear progression forward
EG Point A at 0km at 12Z, Point B at 50KM East at 13Z, Point C at 100km East at 14Z, then the plug in will calculate other points at 75km eastwards every hour

Hopefully it makes sense what i wrote.
      cheers
      Riccardo

@dodohjk Hello, thank you for suggestion. Satellite layer and Weather radar layer show current state, not forecast. If you want to use, Route planner on those layers, it is still possible.

the problem with Distance and planning is that it covers the time validity of the satellite layer.

            here is an example
imagine i want to track the movement of this shower over rotterdam

when i open distance and planning i have the satellite time bar covered by the tool.

ideally i would be able to put waypoints at various location and times, calcualte the average speed and direction and nowcast where it is going for the next few hours

@dodohjk Hello, trajectory plugin works for forecast layers, not real-time layers like Satellite.

Route planner is the same as Distance & Planning, but again it does not track air particles of Satellite layer, it will show you forecast along your selected route.

What @dodohjk want is just what Distance & planning offers in the mobile app, without the Route planner feature.
Example with a thunderstorm on Radar layer. The aim is to extrapolate the position of the cloud / radar echo one hour later.

I think it would be useful to have the same page as this one when Distance & planning is selected on website. And to have a button to switch to Route planner for those who want to use it.

Exactly! thank you @idefix37 for making it more clear

To quote the old saying "Model useful but wrong", thus extrapolating the sat and radar in the 1 to 6hr range can give me more accurate prediction especially for showers.

                    @dodohjk
Extrapolating showers to 6h is a bit too much if they are generated by thunderstorm conditions. In this case 1 or 2h is enough. 6h only if rain is due to a typical front system.
The example I shown is only possible on tablet app, not in the phone app.
