Subscription renewal possible only through email link, suspicious!

I did not like to open the link in the email to renew my subscription. Reason for the request was that my credit card was expired and not any more valid. There are so many attempts to fish bank contact data through emails that I hesitated to open the link. Finally I opened it and changed my payment data but wouldn´t it give safer feeling if the payment data change process could be started from the profile, where you are logged in?
