It’s been 24 hrs and the Electra fire doesn’t show
-
I have the fire intensity layer selected and I don’t see the Electra fire in Jackson ca. I did see one south of Jackson yesterday but that one no longer shows either. Is there a problem with the system or can you give me a tip to fix this?

@clintonrd I see the one in Chowchilla again but it’s still not showing the Electra fire in Amador and Calaveras counties. I’m using an iPhone 10s and a 2020 ipad. Neither see the current fire. Internet is better in the middle of any third world country than it is here but that’s not the problem since we went to the nearest Starbucks 10 miles away to get an ok connection and it still doesn’t show.

@clintonrd
Are you talking about this fire near Jackson CA? -
@clintonrd Hello, I would recommend to use Fire intensity layer together with Active fires overlay.
-
@korina thank you. That made it show the fire I’m looking for. Just odd that it showed the other fire regardless. Also it shows the Electra fire way larger than it really is. I’m at the north edge and it shows that it’s burned over 20 miles beyond me. That definitely is not correct.

@clintonrd
See how the Fire intensity map is obtained:
https://community.windy.com/topic/10483/intensity-scale-for-active-fires?_=1657132691111The radiative intensity of large wildfires is measured by satellite sensors on a 125 x 125 km (77 x 77 miles) grid
That’s why it can’t be very precise, however it is near real-time observations over large regions and so useful for getting an overlook of forest fires and industrial fires over the planet. -
@idefix37 got it. Thank you for shedding light on that for me. We rely on the windy app for wind directions to help us decide our next move. We are in the mandatory evacuation zone but have stayed behind to help the elderly. Good neighbors stick together here.
