Mobile Google Login
-
Hi all,
I have Windy Premium through my Google account, and am able to login via desktop browser, but I keep getting an error on mobile "Failed to login with Google. Please try again or use another option."
I've tried deleting the app and re-installing to no success, for both of the Windy apps in the app store. I also don't see any other way I can login other than through Google's authentication. If there was a way to log in manually on my mobile app, that would be fine with me.
Thanks for any help.

@lee-werner
What do you mean with ‘for both of the apps in the App Store? There is only one app by Windy.com, with a red logo. Any other app with a different logo has nothing to do with Windy.com.
You can log in the app with account credential, e-mail and password. They need to be the same for the browser version and for the mobile app to get them matched. -
I'm having the same issue.
Created an account in the browser using Google login.
Open the Windy (red logo) app on Android, choose login. Select Google login. Choose my matching account (only have one).
Get the same error, unable to login.Error in Dev console:

@william-skidmore @Lee-Werner Hello, what phone type do you have please, what brand, version and OS?
Does it mean that your Google login works on desktop, but not in the mobile app? -
@korina
Samsung S22 Ultra, Android 12, with whatever stock Samsung UI.Yes, creating an account and logging in on Desktop works great. It's only the native android app that gives the error. Tried again this morning and same error given in Dev console.

@william-skidmore Hi, could you please try to remove the Google social login from your profile, and then try to login again. Here are details how to do it - Information about user profile

@korina
All is good on my end, other than unable to login with Google in the android app. Here's my full journey:- Have had the android app for a few months and really enjoy it, so signed up for premium.
- It says to redeem premium to login.
- I didn't have an account, so clicked create new account.
- Selected Google auth, and got an error.
- Switched to Chrome and went to Windy.com and made an account using Google auth just fine.
- Back to android app, tried logging in with Google and got same error.
- In Chrome, on Windy.com went to my profile and chose Password, it stated I didn't have one but to click the button to send a reset email. Clicked that.
- Followed link in email to set a password
- In android app, logged in via my Google email and the password I just set.
- Clicked redeem premium and it successfully linked.

@william-skidmore Thank you for description, our team will look at the issue.

@idefix37 There is another app with a blue logo called "Windy.app: wind & weather live". It has the same UI as windy.com. Perhaps a copycat?
@Korina I have a Google Pixel 2, Android. Yes, my Google login works on desktop, but not on the mobile app.
RESOLUTION: I followed the exact steps that William Skidmore outlined and I was to login by manually typing in my Google email and Windy password (following a reset).
