I've found that the cursor text indication of wind speed sometimes doesn't agree with the wind barbs along the right side axis (as in the example above - "19 mph" while the wind barb indicates 50+ kts). or are the units of the wind barbs something other than the usual knots or the units set under Settings (mph, in the case of the example above).

        @ZeusDog
Wind barbs units cannot be other than knots.
I think your sounding is displaying wrong wind barbs.
I get 19 mph for less than 20 kt windbarbs in the graphic at 750hPa level for same location.

You can easily cross check the wind speed at this level on the map with the Altitude slider set at 800 - 700 hPa and the sounding graphic.

@idefix37 I agree with all you said, including that I can cross-check the wind barbs. But why do you suppose the sounding forecast is showing me the wrong wind barbs, and why only sometimes? I will try to see under what circumstances this happens, but haven't noticed a pattern yet.

            Dear Windy team!
            Your sounding visualizations are great!

In a month I am starting to teach atmospheric thermodynamics and plan to use your graphics.

However, I am missing the output for water vapor mixing ratio values and isolines. Can those be visualized?

            Thanks!

The tool is really great! Exactly what I need for a more precise forecast for gliding! One little remark: in the forecast mode I am not sure about the time considered; a remark on that would be of great help too. Other wise just perfect. Congratulation!
              Regards Rudolf

Edit: Sounding ground elevation seems wrong. The elevation here (Hemet High School) is ~1700 ft yet the bottom of the sounding is only 700 ft. This makes is really hard to use for soaring.

Would love to get a second Y scale with altitudes.

                      Hi there

Just wondering where the actual (not forecast) soundings have gone.

They seem to be missing over the last several days.

                      Thanks in advance.

                      Keep up the great work!

                            Hi,

Thank you so much for the tool?

Would it be possible to always plot the lifted parcel curve based off the forecast sfc dew point and temperature please?

                            Cheers,
                            Rick

Nice tool that is more informative than that on NWS web page. I'm curious what the switch does. Dry / wet lapse rates?

The switch turns the sounding diagram in a "skew-T" form.
That means that isotherms (constant temperature lines) are “skewed” to the right as they go up in altitude.

I really like the tool! It would be nice to include the higher altitude data as well...as high as you have data.

The forecast Skew T addition for any point on the map is fantastic. All it needs is a time stamp, and/or better still, if the user could choose a time that its valid for.
