I dont know your app, is it a navigation app ?
In this case you could include the magnetic course in addition to the true course, by adding the (positive or negative) declination.

But concerning Windy Route planner, that would NOT be a good idea. In Route planner, the user would pin waypoints on Windy map and get directly magnetic headings. So he would just use these headings for the route? This is bad and not safe!!
He must use only true courses, and then on the paper chart or in a real navigation app or software, plot the precise course taking into account navigation aids, soundings and currents to finally get the magnetic headings.
Or if he plots first the course on paper chart or in the navigation app, then he can already get the magnetic heading as usual, no need to add it in Windy.

Not sure we actually need the Compass Rose, but to have the deviated course would be nice.

Yes, definitively.
I don’t see the benefit for having a compass rose on Windy UI.
@<bdi>saugeener</bdi> would never use the parallel ruler on the screen :)
At sea if it is just to know the wind direction forecast referring to the magnetic North, it could be shown as a option beside the true direction. For instance wind direction 290°T, 297°M.
But when speaking of wind direction it’s better to refer only to true north.

Having a Compass Rose could be beneficial for paper chart navigation. However the UKHO also announced last week that they are aiming stop paper charts from the end of 2026.

But Windy is NOT a navigation app, only a weather app.
What would be the point of displaying the Compass rose that you show?

Windy gives the wind direction in degrees referring to the north direction (If you don’t get this direction in degrees, in Settings tick Display directions as number).
Then you just need to transfer this angle to your paper map.
If your boat is equipped with an anemometer providing the wind direction, how do you do to transfer the real wind on your paper chart? Do the same with Windy. No need of compass rose in Windy which is not a navigation app.

Thankyou for the responce, i am kind of old school,
And use paper charts to plot my course when sailing.
Compass rose on windy map would make very convenient to see wind direction and course, since
We can only sail at certain angles to wind
Thankyou again

https://medium.com/runic-software/an-interactive-nautical-compass-rose-85cdb25819e3

@<bdi>Korina</bdi> Why is it useful? When you are navigating a maritime vessel (ship, boat, yacht) you may use a Compass. A Compass will show you where magnetic north is rather than true north (where the North Pole is). So you need to deviate the course you will follow to take into account for the difference.

On a paper chart, there are normally a few Compass Roses shown. To help you adjust your compass for the deviation required.

This is what a Compass Rose looks like:
