      Hi Admin,

We are a research vessel and feed into Windy. Our call sign is ZMFR

      Currently we are in the South Pacific (16 -53S & 171 -12W)

I have noticed our wind direction has been in the wrong direction by about 90 degrees in the last few days at the vessel ( the maps isobars have been correct) The wind speed indicated is also correct.

Our instruments onboard are reading correctly - and just wanted to know if there is either we can do or you can do to give the correct direction for the wind?

      Cheers

        Hello Tangaroa,

It seems this discrepancy is not constant. As you can see from the Observation vs forecast diagram, there are time periods when the reported wind directions from your station match with the ECMWF forecasts, and periods when they are off. In addition, it is not exactly a 90° discrepancy as the reported wind direction shows a fix North wind direction (360°) during these periods.
Not sure it comes from Windy, it could be from the data source that Windy uses ?

        Good sailing and fair winds
