New Windy Hurricane Tracker 2023

Hurricane Tracker 2023 Update
With the new season comes a new update. Hurricanes and typhoons (in Asia) are devastating, and we still have in mind last year's Hurricane Ian, which made landfall in Florida. That's why we have invested additional time and resources into improving our Hurricane Tracker.
New models and new design
The first significant improvement is a new model. Working with the Met Office, we now offer a global UKM model to complement other models such as NHC, ECMWF, BoM, IMD, or JMA. This will allow you to compare the different models.
The design has also changed, and you can now better see the location of each hurricane in the preview. The new design is clear and neat.
BONUS TIP: Satellite archive (Premium feature)
You can also use the satellite archive for the first time this year. We introduced this new feature half a year ago, but combined with hurricane season, we bring a great use case. In the satellite archive, you can choose any day on the planet in the last 365 days. Plus, in all types of satellite imagery - BLUE, VISIBLE, INFRA+.

Hurricane Tracker 2022 Update:
With the big summer update 37.1.8, we are bringing a new Hurricane Tracker with a fresh design and a couple of features for the hurricane season of 2022, which is already in full swing.
The Hurricane Tracker feature has been redesigned to bring users a better experience while keeping up with the latest severe and extreme tropical systems such as cyclones, hurricanes, or tropical storms around the globe, along with a storm track forecast and LIVE imagery, packed in an interactive user interface.
Multimodel forecast & LIVE satellite visualization
Hurricane Tracker newly displays a cone of the storm center showing a predicted movement path with a forecast track line from multiple national meteorological agencies. This can be used with Windy's Satellite layer (Visible, BLUE, INFRA+) to get a unique overview combining forecast movement and LIVE satellite imagery of a particular tropical storm or system.
Aside from the LIVE satellite visualization, you can use the Hurricane Tracker with any layer and forecast model on Windy.com, based on your preferences.
Each forecast track line has waypoints containing information about a storm's position and details about wind speed, pressure, and date/time the data are valid.
The logic behind displaying active storms has also been updated; newly, you will always be presented with a storm that is the closest to your current relative location or the location you have as your default.
You can toggle between available track forecast cones with a switch under each active storm. Examples are shown on the screenshot above, NOAA-EP, and ECMWF forecasts.
Our sources for storm track forecast are
:National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Japan Meteorological Agency
Australian Bureau of Meteorology
European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts

@korina Awesome. A welcome feature.
I'd like to see a drag feature where i can move the actual hurricane by dragging my thumb over it on the screen.

-
@korina I'm sorry that I don't know where is “display on map"…
-
@korina I can find radiosondes in windy's web version,but in app,I can't find radiosondes in "display on map" and my app don't update New Multimodel Hurricane Tracker ,too. Is it because I'm in China?

@korina
Well, I found a way finally.
When I saw the announcement for the hurricane feature I was happy and impressed as I scroll down I saw where you could leave a comment and I decided to so I clicked on and got to pop up I needed to be logged in. After logging in I have not been able to find the place to leave a comment, only replies to other comments. After noticing you were labeled as an administrator I clicked on comment and have at least been able to communicate with you this way. I'm on an Android phone a good new one, but I'm not sure which version I have of the app .
What do you think 🤔 -
@ben-fadely Hello, you need to have app version 37.1.8. to view the new hurricane tracker feature.
-
When i open the stormtracker on the ipad the list of storms occupy the left half of the screen. When i close the list to see the map better the tracking graphic disappears also.
Same thing on the iPhone although the list is on the lower part of the screen. But the tracking graph disappears when closing the list.
Latest version of the Windy app is in use.
Brgds

@hexon Hello, this is correct behaviour, if you close the left panel, the hurricane tracker cone and tracks disappear.
