Wind speed

Comparing the speed of wind in km/h in windy app with real speed in place I noticed that speed is lower in app for 3.6. The problem is general for all wearher sites.

Where do you get "real speed in place" from? And what do you mean exactly with "lower for 3.6 " ?

Theses days 08-2022, I am near Porquerolles, the wind speed forcast are quite wrong.... 1 day the wind is much stronger and the other very much slower than the forcast.
I know weather is hard to forsee somtime but ey....near 100% wrong :)

@vincerutabaga And did you try other forecast models for your location? Each of them offers a different forecast output.

First are you talking about Wind forecast with is the averaged wind over 10 minutes or about Wind gusts (rafales in French)?
Do you have a mean to measure locally the wind speed?
And which model do you use in Windy? There are 7 models available in your area and it is better to compare them.Near the Porquerolles island there is the weather station of Hyères airport (at 11 km). I do not see such big discrepancy about wind that you mention.
Here is the comparison with the Observation vs forecast tool that you can use yourself (select Reported wind and click to a weather station). There are not such big discrepancies about wind these last days with all the available weather models.
