Barometer calibration onboard ship
-
Good day,
Please note that my vessel M.V. Baltic Mantis is at Paranagua anchorage and i would like to calibrate my Barometer. Can you please advice on that? -
Pressure layer gives the local pressure forecast at Paranagua anchorage. Current forecasts are:
ECMWF 1018 hPa
GFS 1019 hPa
ICON 1018 hPa
But this is prediction not observation.
In Windy, airports provide reported pressure (QNH). Unfortunately Paranagua airport (type it in search bar) does not report METAR.
The closest airport is Joinville airport reporting 1017 hPa.Of course you have to update these pressure values when you make the calibration.
The best way is to contact directly an official weather station. The ILHA DO MEL weather station is labelled WMO. You better call it, Windy does not report pressure at WX stations.

Thanks for prompt reply. Can we show these to external Port state control inspection?
Please note that Own vessel is at Paranagua Outer roads anchorage - Posn 25 41.0 S / 48 15.4 W.
Vessel Barometer reading is 1022.0 hpa at 1610LT / 1910UTC. (Weather – E x 9kts, Temperature-26 deg)
Barometer is located 33.55mtr above sea level on bridge. Please find attached picture of Barometer.
Request you to please advise the actual atmospheric pressure at this position/date and time.
And if you can give us report on our official email id so that we can post Barometer calibration report near our ships barometer.
Our ships officail emial id is balticmantis@speedmailplus.com

Good day,
Understood your comments. Can you provide ILHA DO MEL (WMO) contact details (Contact number or Email id).
Thanks

Sorry I am not able to provide more details about this weather station.
I assume you can contact the port authorities, they should give you contact details of this weather station.
