Hurricane feature

your new hurricane feature is really bad. Why did you change to something so poorly designed
-
@Gabine Hello, could you please let us know what exactly is poorly designed?
-
I agree with Gabin, the hurricane tracker was the only reason reason I joined Windy. Since the app no longer tracks hurricanes I will not renew my subscription,

@ocie
Why do you say the app no longer tracks the hurricanes? This feature is still available and really improved.
Or can't you find it anymore? It is now on top of the right menu. -
Possible bug. When viewing the Hurricane Tracker information/details on the left margin I can see only a partial view of the cone of probability on the map to the left, however, when I click on the red X to collapse the menu to see the full cone, the cone, tracking on the map disappears. This happens when viewing Windy Hurricane tracker in my laptop browser as well as on my Samsung Galaxy Fold 4. There should be a way to maintain the visibility with a setting.

Just drag the map and zoom in if necessary. It should works. -
@idefix37 Thank you for the reply. The problem is I have to drag and constantly resize the map to be able to read the data associated with the track of a particular hurricane. If there are several hurricanes, it's hard to see the actual hurricane because it is often under the left hurricane tracker panel. The Hurricane Tracker located on the left, overshadows/overrides the map data.
@Sean-Dodd basically is saying the same thing in another thread. Essentially, the left info panel is too big and needs to either toggle on/off without removing the tracking information on the map, or allow the user to resize/reduce the hurricane tracker on the left. Here's the link to @Sean-Dodd comments.

Yes, this is obvious on tablets e.g. on iPad. The screenshots shown by @Sean-Dodd are from a tablet indeed. In the phone app, this panel is at bottom part of the screen.
Do you confirm on your side that you are using a tablet?
In the tablet app the left panel covers a large part of the screen, reducing consequently the visible part of the track.
I agree, the size of this panel could be reduced in the tablet app because few words take up a large space as shown in my screenshot here above. -
@idefix37 I'm not using a tablet. In my original posting I indicated I was using a Samsung Galaxy Fold 4. It also has has Android 12L which means the OS and apps should be optimized for use on the larger screens. Given what is happening to Windy Hurricane Tracker, I would have to assume that Windy has not been optimized for use on 12L at this time. Interestingly enough, when I use the Hurricane Tracker on my Surface Duo 2, the tracker is at the bottom as you described. The Surface Duo 2 is using Android 11.

@twall007
Sorry I don’t know about devices and systems you mentioned.
I guess Windy identifies your device as a tablet showing the hurricane panel on left side, as typically displayed by the tablet app. While it is at bottom on smartphone as displayed by the phone app.
I guess Windy identifies the type of device by the size of the screen (referring in detail to all models available on the market would be a huge task). BTW There are similar problems with some laptop with small screen which are identified as a tablet.Anyway, this issue with the too large panel of hurricane tracker on the left side has been reported and I am quite sure this panel will be reduced in next releases.

@idefix37 Thank you for the input and reporting it. Both of the devices I mentioned are Android smartphones. Hopefully, the next app update will include a fix.
