it it possible to set GFS model as default in forecast? Now I have to change it from ECMWF to GFS every time when I close the app..

You can save GFS as model shown at start up: in Settings > Start-up layer and location > Start-up layer > Use last overlay
Did you do it? But when you close the app, GFS should be the last model to be used.
