What do the white, green and blue colors in the windspeed row symbolize? Why is there a slight blue tint on the 7mph at 22:00 but not the 7mph at 23:00?

Related question: How do I get this welcome screen back after dismissing it by clicking on the X?

These colors are related to the wind speed but not in the same way as the color scale you have when you select the Wind overlay.
        These colors are approximately:
        White 0-6mph
        Blue 7-10mph
        Green 11-19mph
        Amber 20-31mph
        Red 32-40mph
        Rose 41mph and +

I guess you get this table (basic Meteogram) when clicking the widget which gives the forecast at you location (reason why you call it welcome screen). If you want to get the same panel back, just click on your location. The best and quicker is to add your location as Favorite

        • In the search bar, type your location name and then the nearby small heart.
        • Then it is easy to get this panel by clicking your picture profile (at bottom right corner of your screen) and your location in the Favorite list.

I think this happens because the weather model predicts that there is an increase in the wind speed during the mentioned hour ( 22:00 ), ( maybe at 22:15, 22:30 or 22:45 ). You can check that ability by selecting a weather station ( a personal one ) and moving the slider within any hour in the past; because these stations at windy give a weather report every 5 minutes, so, this can be easily detected.

I think Windy should provide the forecasts more accurately ( in patterns of 15 minutes rather than 1 hour ).

The weather models provide forecast with hourly steps.
How could Windy display a 15 min by 15 min forecast?!
Model predictions have nothing to do with weather stations that report data every 15 or 5 minutes.

The small difference in colors is probably due to the fact that the model provides wind speed data in m/s, then the value is converted to mph and rounded. When showing 7 mph, it's probably not exactly 7 mph. Decimals are not shown.

You got me completely wrong, I mean that when using the " Observation vs Forecast " feature in the details of a personal weather station and going past within 1 hour, there were differences in the forecast even during that hour in a range of minutes, this appears clearly when comparing the forecasted & the reported relative humidity and other parameters.

Should I post screenshots to make it more clear?

I think the color scale is not designed to deal with decimals, and if the values were rounded, then the 7 mph wind speed should appear as 8 mph after rounding.

Why did you delete the part of your message explaining that the forecast is changing every 15 minutes?
The ECMWF provides forecast hour by hour up to 90h, then every 3h up to 144h and every 6h at the end.

                Available at https://confluence.ecmwf.int/display/DAC/Dissemination+schedule

Your explanation about the color does not stand. By the way when rounding 6.7 and 7.4 both give 7, not 8.

                End of discussion for me.

@idefix37 The deleted part was about the hourly forecast that were available at The Weather Channel site which were in range 15 minutes, I don't know why they removed it.
Their weather model is a composite of many models including ECMWF, this is the reason why I think these forecasts are available.

Why you don't have enough power check that by yourself ( comparing the reports of a personal weather station with the forecast using the " Observation vs Forecast " feature )? may be there is a bug or something another.

I think it's just an interpolation between the round hours to minimize the discrepancy with the weather station.

@idefix37 OK, thanks a lot for your patience. To be honest, this happen with all weather stations including the professional weather stations ( airports weather stations & WMO weather stations ),but, it's hard to be detected. I think this issue needs more investigation.
