Zohlednění nadmořské výšky v předpovědi
-
- lokalita o kousek vedle v n.v. 2000 m https://www.windy.com/45.744/10.859?45.738,10.813,13,i:pressure

Hello,
You know that weather model data is delivered at grid points.
The distance between each of this points is about the resolution of the model. For instance 9km for ECMWF or 22km for GFS.
Then Windy interpolates the values at grid points which are smoothed to display the weather maps.
So, in mountains the temperature forecast cannot be very accurate.
In addition the model integrates a coarse orography model (terrain model) which does not accurately ‘see’ the altitude of a location.
The difference between the actual elevation and the model elevation is provided on the Windy sounding graphic at a location (long press on mobile screen or right click on desktop). It explains the inaccuracy of temperature in mountains with global weather models. It is better to use high resolution regional models in mountains if they are available, for example ICON-D2 in this area. Try with it.
