Widgets don't load
-
Hi, I use large windy premium widgets on my iPhone for daily and hourly forecasting. It's like since 2 weeks they don't load correctly. I tried to delete them and place back again - no change. Instead of the widget content I can only see red background with a cloud icon with a text underneath: "unable to load". Time to time they look in a different way: red background with a couple of brighter red rectangles. At the same time I have no connectivity issues neither with my carrier or WiFi - all other apps or Safari work just fine. Hope this can be fixed soon. Btw I use iPhone X with iOS v16.2.
Thanks and Happy New Year! :D

Hi @Ondřej-Šutera thanks for reply. I have Windy v37.2.5 installed (no update available so I assume it's the latest version) and I don't use beta iOS, just v16.2 downloaded/updated in the regular way.
I forgot to mention the widgets with satellite maps work just fine. So only the forecast widgets are affected.
Btw today the widgets are red with a spinner icon saying "open the Windy". I tap a widget, the Windy app opens, and no change.

@Ondřej-Šutera I came to report the same issue, but will just add to this one since it appears to be the same problem. v37.2.5, have tried restarting iPhone, problem is the same as @SP8S describes above. iPhone 13 iOS v16.2.

@mrhall @SP8S, can you please try to open the Windy via the widget and wait for a while (approximately 5-10 minutes)? It could help to load the widget. If this doesn't help, please try to change the used forecast model in the widget. That should also help to reset the whole widget.
If both attempts fail, can you provide us with the location used in the widget, so our iOS developer can debug the process with a specific location that could cause the issue, please?
I am sorry for this a bit complicated process. We are not able to replicate the problem on our end now.

@Ondřej-Šutera Hi Ondřej. I am experiencing the same problems since iOS 16. Also the preview, when I start to install a widget, is only red. Only radar and satellite widgets look right (sea attached screenshots).
I tried your advices (change weather model etc) but that does not help.iPhone 14ProMax, iOS 16.3, windy updated to latest version.
Cheers

Hi @tkreuer we have some issues with widgets on our end, however, if you have Beta version of your iOS, it can be related to that as well, so you should have a production release for completely 100% working Windy.
-
@Ondřej-Šutera As I said, I am having this problems since iOS 16.0. Both with beta versions as with full releases, there is no difference.
-
@tkreuer @Ondřej-Šutera
Try switching the language in you iPhone‘s settings to English and then back to German. I‘ve read somewhere that this fixes problems with widgets not updating. And it did for me. -
@Ondřej-Šutera Hi I tried to keep the app open for like 30 minutes. I also changed the model. I also tried to change language of my phone as one of user suggested in the thread. Sadly no change. One of my widgets uses auto location. The other one - Drammen, Norway.
-
@SP8S I can confirm; experiencing same issue.
-
Hi guys, thank you for all provided info. We are doing our best to fix all occurred issues.
@tkreuer, according to your issue, we still think that the problem is related to Beta version. If Windy was installed on Beta and the issue was there, it needs to be reinstalled on the production version to get it fixed since iPhone can have saved some files that cause the issue even on the production version.
According to @SP8S, our iOS developer will test those specific conditions you provided with iPhone X and the location in Norway. I will keep you posted about any updates.
-
@Ondřej-Šutera Thanks, Ondrej. That helped😀
Deleted the app, re-started the iPhone, newly installed the app. -
@Ondřej-Šutera hi it seems I found a workaround. To ensure I deleted the app and I forced-rebooot my phone to ensure there is no cached data. I reinstalled the app and it seems to work now all fine. I will keep monitoring that in coming days and will report back again.
-
@SP8S Thank you for letting us know. Also, please keep us posted, when anything else occurs.
-
Hi! I had the same issue and had to uninstall the app, reboot my iPhone 11 Pro (official iOS 16.2) and reinstall the app to get the widgets to work again.
A bit restrictive, but glad I found the solution here! :)

According to the issue with loading widgets in this thread, our iOS developer is planning to release a fix for this in hours or days. I will keep you posted.

@Ondřej-Šutera
Dear Ondřej,
earlier iPhones may require a choice of analog widget versions. Seven series running 15.7 seem to stand right on the edge: they display both a place-holding message demanding an iOS 14 version widget. The 7Plus produces ntl.
a secondary, free-standing functional widget.
Since future could - for a variety of reasons -
see a broader range of active device generations,
an automated OS/hardware check sounds reasonable.
Appreciate the luxury you already provided us with!
Always with pleasure:

Hi there, I just want to let you know about the new update (v. 37.2.5.27) that should fix issues with widgets. Can you please update your app and let us know in case of any issues?
