Be one step ahead with the advanced features of Windy Premium! [EN]

Being free user, for you models are updated twice a day.
-
So do we have to upgrade to premium in order to get accurate forecasts now? It is literally snowing as I type this in Soldotna, and the Windy app indicates no new snow in the next 24 hours. Your forecasts have really been off the last several weeks....
-
When has windy.com ever been accurate? My location accuracy has been somewhere around 25% 3 days out. Normally I'm not miffed about losing features to a paywall like the 10-day feature, I get that it costs significant amounts of money for it to work, but since it is rarely accurate, there is no way I'd be paying for the service. It is a cosmetically pretty presentation of weather but without accuracy, it is just a pretty facade. Maybe it's more accurate away from the central coast of California or outside the US in general?
-
@redfox435cat @brother-bill The forecasts you see aren't Windy's forecasts. They don't have a team of meteorologists developing forecasts for you to be disappointed in haha. You should be complaining to the company's creating and maintaining the guidance models.
ANY guidance model 3 days out can be pretty inaccurate, they get better all the time but that far out you start getting into so many variables it's unreal.
If you find a guidance model that is better for your specific area - you can always bring it up in the forums as a model you'd like to see on their site.
-
@Wheats I get that. Something has changed with Windy recently (where they get their forecasting data perhaps?) and it seemed to be around the same time the "Premium" option was rolled out. Windy has been, historically, fairly accurate for my AO. Something has changed.
-
@brother-bill
Windy gets the data from the same weather models, just adding new ones.
These weathers models improve their forecast years after years.
But locally at some time of the year they could be a bit less accurate.
Have you tried to compare all of them and to compare Forecast vs observation -
@Cody-Pothier I agree with you. If they have made more advanced features on premium that would make sense. To take away a basic 10 day forecast for a subscription is indeed a cheapshot. I have been using windy since 2015 and this senseless act of greed was rather shocking!

What do you mean by “ Open the extended 10-day version at the end of the forecast table.” there is nothing called. ’forecast table’ that I can see. Why can’t you do a 10 day radar forecast anyway like dark sky had? That globe they had with ten-day radar forecast was invaluable.
-
@Robert-Shalit
Just click on “10 days forecast” to get the whole table. That seems quite easy ?
Then concerning your “10 days radar”, please don’t multiply the same question !
With the browser version you get 10 days rain forecast shown on the 3D globe. -

Hello, your purchase from Fastspring was canceled, it will not be processed. You can try to make a new purchase.
-
@brother-bill Windy Premium offers 1-hour forecast steps, that provide more accurate data together with several other features shown here.
-
@redfox435cat Hello, which model is not accurate? And have you tried other forecast models for your location?
-
Needs a historical view of local weather.
Just the previous 10-15 days - 30 days would be even better.
e.g.
+++ How much rain/wind did the area receive? (Can we access the area?) (How bad is the disaster.)
Professionals need that information.
+++ How much snow did the area receive? (Can we ski? or access an area?)
++ At the projected subscription cost,
--- professionals are the most probable market. Disaster management, construction, road maintenance, air traffic. etc.-
--- Some Outdoor enthusiasts will justify the expense.
+++ Yes the Premium will have the "satellite" history, but that is not granular enough for localized planning. -
@akagai We don't offer historical data.
