Lombok strait currents
-
Hi, I'm involved in a SAR operation in Nusa Penida and Lombok area (Indonesia) and we find your currents data the most comprehensive ones we could find. Could you please give more information regarding your sources for that specific area and how reliable you consider them? also from which distance to shore do you consider them less reliable.
Thanks -
@assafr A followup question: Is there a way to get your history forecast (from two weeks ago) on currents in the area?

@assafr
Hi, pls find some information about the source of Currents and Tidal currents.

Note that Tidal data is computed from sea surface altimetry. So it means that close to sea shore and in some narrows this layer is not precise enough to be the only source used for navigation. In fact it depends on the sea bed and coast line shapes. In deep waters and with a straight coast line the information is quite good, but not so much in shallow waters or in bays inducing possible higher stream and counter currents.
Windy does not archive any data, including currents data.
Have fair winds and good sailing for your SAR operations. -
@idefix37 Thanks!
