I want to suggest having layer selection in the URL so I can bookmark it. Premium supports remembering the last layer viewing, but I'm hoping for a more direct way of selecting my desired layer.

You can bookmark URL with your selected layer. Have you tried it?
But the best is to subscribe to Premium.
