@Clara-j there aren't many good apps i know of but u can try ventusky or meteoblue for apps and wxcharts or tropicaltidbits for websites u can add to home screen
Windy was the best one but they ruined it now :(
-
@IronTree1881 exactly , they should add the new features, more accurate weather layers, and new weather tech. in premium not take free ones away
I haven't seen a site as good as windy for everyday joes operating of their cell like me -
@IronTree1881 Hi, thanks for the feedback. We have been adding new features to the free version for years now. Just the last year alone, we added 22 features and updates.
We want to keep Windy ad-free, therefore we decided on this change. Some users may not agree with this, and that's their right, so it is ours.
-
Some of the stuff removed from the free view seems backward.
Like why remove the 10-day forecast. and the 6-12h Satelite/radar playback?
All this info easily be found for free on other weather sites.
I use windy because it has a nice layout and user interface.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing an ad bar along the side somewhere if it meant we could get the features back.
I'm not down for paying $50 a year just to see some weather info. -
@Sam-Bramble Hello, first of all, the subscription costs 18.99 USD or 29.99 USD for a one-time purchase, not 50 USD.
Windy does not consist of just a few features, like the 10-day outlook, but dozens of them, while majority of data is still freely available for all.We are against ads, and we will not add them to Windy.

Seeing all the disappointment in comments, I have to say a few words. For years, Windy was a garage project of a few people here in the Czech Republic. They invested their own money to create such a wonderful product having a worldwide impact. Yet, it was still for free, ad-free.. and without any business model:)
To ensure sustainability, they decided to introduce a premium membership.
I was among the first ppl who subscribed, not only to have 1h forecast resolution, but to support the team and the whole project.
I go to mountains very often, and I am happy for having weather app I can rely on.
If you really use the app almost daily, support the team as well. $2,5/month is ridiculous for what you get. -
@Korina no to degrading the product
-
@Korina really bad decisions to degrade your product
-
@Korina you could do whatever you want to attract new subscriptions, for example add new colour schemes to infrared satellite imagery, add RGB satellite layers in which red green and blue Ara different bands, but you just simply decided to distract people who would be subscribing by making your product worse.

@Korina
I have a suggestion that might solve the problem
have like 3 plans
a free plan with no ads but limited features like it is now
a free plan with ads and unlocked features
a paid premium plan without ads and exclusive layers/ features
the free user has the freedom of either enabling ads to get full layers and if the user doesn't want ads he will disable it and get partial features
not all windy fans out there can afford the subscription myself included -
@Tali not all people who use the app live in a European country, in other currencies the premium subscription often becomes inaccessible (where I live in Latin America for example) . The best way to profit from this app would be a free version but with ads, and a premium version without ads for those who can pay. I love this app, and I understand how complex and best-in-class it is, but making it inaccessible to most people is not a good decision.

Just wanted to say thanks for the great program, while it lasted. I will never understand why you felt the need to destroy such a great resource , for those who could not afford to pay cash, but did pay with our praises and recommendations to friends and family. (The best advertisement there is!). Again thanks and goodbye.
-
@Bohdan-f We did not make the product worse, we actually added new features such as the Satellite archive, better weather map resolutions or extended Compare forecast.
-
@Sam-Bramble Yeah sorry i'm talking $50AUD.
Windy just becoming the next NetFlix....
-
This post is deleted! -
Sure, no-one likes price increases / service reductions, just a shame that more people don't wish to support the awesome work that the Windy team does.
-
@Korina
that is not an honest response.
you remove functionality as 6 and 12 hours radar history from free accounts to put them in a pay mode
I support Wrecked

Why would I start paying for service when the bones of the new “format” are useless?
