10 day forecast gone

@Korina said in 10 day forecast gone:
@Henry_K If you don't see added value in the 10-day forecast outlook, then you can still use 6-day forecast for free.
You mean 5.5 day forecast remember, your own ads are covering your own content on the final day. What a terrible thing to do to the free users, covering your own forecast with ads, the very thing you promised you weren't doing.

@burrelltb It will be fixed.

Was gonna say the same thing. I used this mainly for the 10 day forecast as I currently lack the funds to purchase a yearly subscription. It was helpful to me in order to protect my property from approaching rain, especially when it was a large amount.
I'm out. Thanks for ruining the site. ✌ Shame on you.

Korzystam głównie z aplikacji w telefonie i to było by super. Rozumiem że są problemy techniczne że nie ma nadal widoku 3D na androida ?

@whitmart14 I would argue that Windy is not like all the other apps you reference that provide free 10 day forecasts. If this was true why not just jump ship to one of those apps and get the data you want for free? Personally I am a Windy subscriber because the data they provide, and the services they offer is much better than other weather apps. This is why I became a Premium subscriber. After using many weather apps for years, most of them free, I saw the value that Windy provides. They provide what others don't which is worth my money, and the fact they provide a bunch of this for free is a bonus.
I understand how paying for something that used to be free is frustrating but I think its great that there was a period of time where we got this amazing service for free.
-
This just bad business practice, you don't make premium more viable by cutting out functionality that existed for years. You make it more alluring through new features.
-
@hokee need regional pricing. 3 a month is a burden in some countries that earn 1$ or less per hour and pay the same per hour to live and warm their homes.
-
@James-Ellis-3 everyone does it nowadays. World economy is on a squeeze. We are killing ourselves. Our earth. All the wealth out there but most are poor and hungry.
-
@przemo1986 Thank you, and we're happy that you find our decisions valuable. There is no timeline for the 3D Globe in the app, but it is on our to-do list.

As many people have stated on the multitude of posts expressing disappointment, Windy's decision to make the 10 day forecast premium is unfortunate, at best. Windy has been my go to since 2016-17. My enthusiasm and love for the site has been shared with a great number of individuals during the past six years; however, my love affair with Windy is officially over! Of course, the company has to do what's best for its bottom line, but I am not willing to pay for information that is free on many other sites. It is a bit perplexing to charge money for something that has been free for so long, and with innumerable available alternatives, it seems as if it was done with little foresight. Based on the effusive backlash noted in the feedback section, Windy’s customers agree. Good luck windy...this ship has sailed!

@weatherluver Hello, you can still use the 6-day forecast, plus all the models, layers, and special tools like Hurricane tracker, all available for free.

Also a long term forecast is a basic function of any weather app, so now as it stands the basic version of Windy is less functional than the default weather apps that anyone has.
-
what are all of these weather apps that people are talking about?
I have yet to find one that has a 10-day forecast, let alone a way to compare multiple models during these timeframes.... -

No worries. Yr the Norwegian site offers the 10 day euro for free.
-
@evolab I understand your point, but we are not like other weather sites, so we chose a different direction.
-
@evolab No, even the ECMWF weather model is included in other services forecasts like Weather Underground, but accompanied with other weather models.
-
@Korina
You are right, as for instance this weather website:
https://www.wunderground.com/about/data
Which explains
Forecast inputs….A variety of inputs, including, but not limited to, ECMWF, GFS, and NAM….mostly GFS and NAMThey surely use the free version of the ECMWF with a low resolution of 40 km, not the HiRes one with 9km resolution which is not free but expensive.
