Radar shows signal with no precipitation
-
Hello,
Why does the radar sometimes show a signal even though there is absolutely zero precipitation evident outside?
Thanks

15dBZ equals (aprox.) 0.01 inches of rain per hour ... almost nothing!
Please read https://community.windy.com/topic/14057/how-to-convert-the-information-in-dbz-to-millimeters?_=1677921346571
In general ....
Finally ... wx radars may interfere with sea, dust, swarms of insects !!! , virga (rain that evaporates before it hits the ground) etc

@Gkikas-LGPZ Very helpful, thank you! I did not discern anything outside but perhaps the mist did not quite make it to ground level as in a case of virga.
