      I have been using using Windy for several years and I have found that the last 6 to 9 months it has been very in accurate. This has mainly been in southern California as well as the Sea of Cortez.
      Many of my other sailing friends have experienced the same. I use mainly use two sources, NAM and ECMWF based on update time.
      Example, I am off the coast of southern California right now Windy shows the wind SW at 5 kts gusting to 7. Actual true wind is coming from the W at 1-2 kts.
      Other days has shown times the wind at 8 kts for several hours but the actual true wind turns out to be 12 gusting to 16.
      Has anyone else had this experience?

        @mtvild
        May we know how you measure the average wind and gust speeds ?
        Ideally the comparison of wind forecast vs reported wind at weather stations gives an idea of accuracy of a weather model.
        Click Reported wind and compare the prediction of different models.
