Does windy track the difference between forecasts and actual weather?
-
I feel like my Windy forecasts have been off lately. Wondering if anyone else has been feeling this way. Maybe its just a spring weather problem in this part of the world... makes me wonder if there is any tracking of forecast 'success' or accuracy and whether this changes over time, through the seasons, or if climate change makes forecasting harder...
Saw the post below... but it didn't answer my questions.
Re: Why is observed weather always different than a forecast

@Max-thaysen As you said, the spring weather could be the reason, but in general, we provide forecast data from various models all over the World. These companies have their own metric to get this data. Also, they use their own resolution, which doesn't have to be entirely accurate for specific locations.
In general, I recommend comparing more models for your location to get the most objective forecast.

@Max-thaysen There is "observed vs forecast" feature that enables you to compare reported data from weather stations with all models. Nothing long-term though. See this post for more info

The accuracy of weather forecasting is a complex issue that depends on a variety of factors, including the quality and quantity of data available, the sophistication of the forecasting models used, and the unpredictability of weather patterns. It is possible that you may have noticed discrepancies between Windy's forecasts and actual weather conditions recently. While weather forecasting technology has advanced significantly in recent years, it is still not a perfect science, and forecasting errors can occur for a variety of reasons. It is not uncommon for weather forecasts to be less accurate during transitional periods between seasons, such as during the onset of spring or fall.
