Windy.com for WearOS is here!
-
With the already popular Windy Apple Watch app, we have decided to expand our smartwatch coverage and include Android watches with the Windy WearOS app!
Bringing the weather forecast right to your wrist, Windy is perfect for those who like to stay prepared and make quick decisions about outdoor activities or travel plans. The Windy smartwatch app comes with three different widget tiles for your watch's home screen. Two with 3 and 4 days forecast outlook and one with a regular day overview. The app's menu offers access to the Weather forecast and Weather radar.
Let's look closer at the features and how you can utilize your smartwatch experience with them.
What can you find in the app?
- Weather forecast
Upon opening the Windy.com app, you will find 3 tabs. The first one is the Weather forecast, which offers a classic forecast for the following days.
Each day can be expanded to view a detailed forecast in 3-hour steps with weather parameters temperature, wind direction & strength, and precipitation.
The weather forecast view can be accessed right from your Windy Watch Face by simply tapping on your smartwatch screen.
- Weather radar
Your favorite tool for monitoring real-time precipitation and storm systems is not missing; it is the second tab in the app's menu.
To start the radar animation, tap on the play button on the screen and watch the current and past radar imagery for your location. You can also adjust the zoom level by swiping your finger along the edge of the watch screen.
- Settings
Customization is the key. The settings menu allows you to tailor the app to your preferences. Settings contain options for units of measurement (metric or imperial), weather models, and radar, where you can choose whether you want to see country names and borders. If not, turn both off and enjoy an unobstructed view.
Get started
To get the Windy WearOS, go to your smartwatch and open the Google Play store app, where you will find Windy as one of the available apps. Hit install and have weather at your fingertips!

@Korina Hey great to know that my favourite weather app is now on my wrist (pixel watch). Here are some things that are not really polished right now:
- Not fully translated to German
- Scrolling via Crown is not working in the main selection screen (forecast/radar/settings)
- Radar loading seems suboptimal (timestamps seem to load randomly) and loading times are long
- Carousel widget has a reload symbol that seems to be pressable, but does not seem to do anything. I would like a cleaner approach and leave it out. The info on the bottom with the timestamp seems to be enough for me personally. If I want the most accurate information I can just launch the app with a tap into the middle. Also a widget option with more details over the current day would be appreciated.
Other than that I think it works fine :) keep up the good work!

@Korina Where to buy windy os smartwatch
-
@Hendrik-Schröder Thank you for your feedback. We are aware that our app can miss some features and we are still working on new features for this new app.
Widgets should have a functional button that can be used for manual refresh. Does this work for you or does it not at all?
-
@gehksj00000 If your watch supports Wear OS, you can download the app from the Google Play watch app
-
@Ondřej-Šutera I am asking!! Where to buy?? We can buy online this watch? Please provide link
-
@gehksj00000 We don't talk about any specific model made for Windy. You can purchase any smartwatch supporting Wear OS 3 and install Windy there.

@Korina
I would love to use the faces on my Apple Watch, but im needing swell height and wind hourly and 3 day forecast?
Are you guys going to rolling out other options other than rain, temperature etc... -
I would be thrilled to see a Windy.com app on the Garmin Connect IQ app store in the future! That would really take the functionality to another level for us Garmin folks.
-
I'm not seeing the watch faces. The app loads/looks fine, but I'm not sure where to get the faces as they are not in my watch face library (Mobvoi TicWatch 3).
-
@sethdallob We don't offer any watch faces at the moment, you can only add tiles that are next to the main watch face. You should get to them by swiping to the right side.
-
@ianthurtell there are no official plans for the implementation of mentioned features on Apple Watch at the moment.
-
Absolutely brilliant YAY!! Been using the app since it was launched and I couldn't be happier for the developers. Keep up the great work!!
-
Very nice!
-
This looks great. When is it available on Samsung Galaxy Watches please?
-
@jme66 It is already available for all Galaxy Watch models from Series 4 and 5.
-
It would be great of we can get this on Garmin's watches.
-
This is great to see! it took a couple of attempts to load forecast and radar but now they are on my watch. Can we expect wind prediction as well?
-
@Korina Are you aware that in the Samsung Galaxy store (for Wear OS apps) there is another Windy app made by a guy named Farouq Omer. His app logo looks deceivingly like the real Windy branding. I can't attach a screenshot for you, but happy to send one if you email me.

@Colin-in-BKK thank you for reporting this. We already made steps to block this app, since there is nothing in common with us.
