Duplicate Station and Outdated Data
-
I report data to Windy directly from my station that can be viewed at this url:
https://www.windy.com/station/pws-f0677f8a?35.353,-78.558,8You also pull data from madis that comes from this same station:
https://www.windy.com/station/madis-AV021?35.353,-78.558,8However, the data is generally outdated from the madis, although it is not that ourdated when viewing that data on CWOP.
Just wondering if there is something I can do to fix this on my end with the way data is reported.

@AV021 I will forward this to colleagues for the investigation and I will keep you posted if there is any update.

@AV021 Hi, unfortunately, we cannot help in this matter. MADIS has its own processes that can somehow filter or validate these data, and we cannot affect this.
So you can contact them directly about this matter or remove your station, so there will be only one from the MADIS, but this is completely up to you.

@Suty I am having the same problem. My weather stations report into MADIS as GW0650 and GW0651. For both stations I also report directly into Windy via Windy API. Because Windy pulls data from MADIS without I have "accepted or enabled" it, I now have two reports from the each of the stations.
You can check it here:
https://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxpage.cgi?call=GW0650&units=metric
https://www.windy.com/station/madis-g0650?55.996,8.366,8
https://www.windy.com/station/pws-2f071b2f3?55.996,8.366,8Windy even writes at the bottom line that GW0650 is a duplicate station.
I have setup my own reporting directly to Windy because it is more updated (faster). The problem for me, as other users, is that Windy prioritizes MADIS in the "Nearests stations" overview. I cannot see my own reporting directly to Windy. It should be opposite, so Windy always prioritizes PMS stations that report directly to Windy over MADIS and other sources.
How can I change this order? Or can you do it behind the scenes?
-
@Rolandoz Unfortunately, our system, as you mentioned, prioritizes MADIS stations and there are no plans to change this now.
-
@Suty Okay. I have tried to stop the MADIS reporting for 2-3 days to see if my PMS showed up. But that did not happen. How long will it take from I stop MADIS reporting until PMS info is shown? Or do I have to entirely have my MADIS ID deleted before the PMS shows up?
-
@Rolandoz I will discuss this with colleagues and let you know.
Update: At this moment, we are not able to manage this for you. If you want to see your PWS station on the map, you can try to stop sending data to MADIS. Or you can move your PWS station to your favorite list and then you will see that as well.
