I'm the author of AKWeather plugin for HomeSeer Automation and really like to add Windy.com to the list of supported providers (currently 44). But the pricing 990€ / year is far beyond automation users will be willing to pay.

Just wondering if you can add some "personal" plan for $5-$10 p/m for single user? You can have some limitations, i.e. max call rate 30 minutes, etc

Thank you,

Alex

Have a look at Tomorrow.io's model. I believe it is cheaper to serve an API than the whole website of windy.com with the fancy map. And could make as much money with the premium subscription.

The Home Automation market is booming, and quality data is well needed.

Solar forecast is useful for automation planning how to use most efficiently your solar panels output as self consumption.

Wind forecast is used for automatically closing awning blinds or window blinds. The same applies for temperature and UV forecasts.

Precipitation forecast is used for lawnmower and irrigation scheduling. There are thousands of DIY enthusiasts who are looking for this kind of information.

Same as any other automation software - get the current observations and forecasts (daily/hourly) and display the data as HomeSeer devices. So the users can create nice weather GUI or trigger events.

https://forums.homeseer.com/forum/hs4-products/hs4-plugins/weather-plug-ins-aa/akweather-alexbk66/1610829-marine-weather-providers-waves-tides-currents

For most providers requiring API key - the user registers their own account with the provider and get the API key or access token.

https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/tomorrowio/

https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/metoffice/

https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/accuweather/

Access to current conditions and forecast are the usual use cases.

I don't really understand why Windy hasn't created an API access model for this kind of personal use. It has been asked multiple times during the years as I can see from multiple topics. It could be bundled into the Windy Premium package.
