I think Windy should get historical reanalysis data for past weather forecasts using ERA5 (ECMWF Reanalysis v5), which has data that dates back to 1940. Not all 50+ overlays and data are required, at least temperature, winds, precipitation, and possibly a couple more overlays. This feature can be under a Windy Premium paywall since the ERA5 will cost a lot to purchase it's data and also it has 80+ years of extensive amounts of reanalysis weather data to look at.

Reanalysis data from ERA5 is interesting if you compare it with the current forecast. Otherwise it would be just useful for climatology which not the target of Windy.
Comparing the ECMWF forecast with the M-climate re-forecast (EFI) is done in the Extreme weather layer, which is a way to estimate the current weather anomalies.
