      I use Windy to find locations and times when there are winds at different altitudes are in opposite directions. This is VERY useful as I fly a powered paraglider that flies at less than 50kph and using tailwinds at different altitudes significantly increases my range on out and return trips.

      Would anyone be interested in a layer or a plugin which showed a heat map with red being a 180 degree wind difference in say 6000 feet? Or is there already a tool to do this?

      My longest foot launched PPG triangle flight so far is 313km with the 3 sides of the triangle all having a tailwind.  And I planned this using windy.

          @idefix37 thanks for replying.

          The trajectory plugin is ideal for planning max distance flights from a single location.

          I'm looking for a layer that highlights regions where there are different directions in the lower 10000 feet. e.g. red shading for a max of 180 degree difference, orange for 150, yellow for 120 etc Once I can see these broad areas of interest then I can manually investigate the possibilities for planning out and return flights.

          The following 3 images are for winds at 5000, 6400, and 10000 feet in SE Australia. The bottom right shows a 180 degree different between the 5k and 10k winds.

          If anyone is interested in helping with the plugin I would be happy to develop a detailed use case and specification,

          Peter
