No data for west of Ireland
-
Weather radar has been returning "No Data" for the south west of Ireland for over a week now. Not much point in paying for a global service that doesn't include my part of the globe!

@Lmacm Weather radar on Shannon Airport is being replaced. Outage is expected to last until autumn 2023: https://www.met.ie/met-eireann-is-replacing-the-weather-radar-at-shannon-airport

@Lmacm It's now back online

@Filip_K it's online now can you review again https://www.met.ie/met-eireann-launches-new-advanced-weather-radar-system-at-shannon-airport/ Thanks Ciaran

@silver-b Thank you for reminding us. For some reason, our data provider for UK and Ireland doesn't have data from this radar yet. I have contacting them requesting further info.
I will keep you updated

@Filip_K Any news please?

Hi @nutz4sheep, unfortunately, our radar data provider for UK and Ireland doesn't include new Shannon radar in the data feed yet (as it is still in testing phase). We haven't been given any date when we can expect the data to be available either. I'll see what I can do about getting the data from other source (for example Met Éirean)

Hi @nutz4sheep, it is done:

@Filip_K cool, thanks, looks good!

@nutz4sheep Hi, we’ve been living with a chunk of ‘no data’ off the SW Irish coast for a few months now since the new radar came online. Any chance this can be fixed with a different data feed please?
-
@nutz4sheep
On western Ireland it seems the radar data is not homogeneous and each radar provides different signal level. -
Hi @nutz4sheep, our data from this area come from UK MetOffice and IE Met Éireann. The new radar on Shannon airport is still in testing phase. That is what both offices have told me. UK Metoffice doesn't incorporate Shannon radar on their web yet:
IK Met Éireann does show the data from this radar on their web, but it is cropped version only (which we are using as our only data source):
IK Met Éireann also provides data as open source (info here and here) but this dataset only contains Dublin radar as for now. Again, because Shannon is in testing phase only.If you know of any other source for Shannon radar, feel free to let me know an I'll gladly incorporate it.
@idefix37 I am aware of this issue, but that is how the data are provided and we don't want to change it in any way. See screenshots above where UK data show quite high values above west cost of Ireland, while values from IE radars are much lower. I believe this will get unified after test phase of Shannon radar is over and it becomes part of UK composite data (as it was before the upgrade)

Hi @Filip_K, happy Easter! A large swathe of the Irish west coast is showing no data. Is this something you can investigate again please.
-
Hi @nutz4sheep, according to met.ie web, Shannon radar is out of operation due to technical issue.
-
Thanks @Filip_K, we’ve got the radar back in it’s full glory.
