changed interface
-
Hi, with the new interface, i'm curious about the forecast animation below. with the old interface we could manually click forward and back through time of the model runs....now it is simply a play/pause feature. is there a way that i can still manually click? upgrade to premium? a different setting i can select?
Thanks

@bruno0016 Can you please test a different browser and let me know?
@zredden in this mobile version, you can move the timeline manually by dragging the timeline. Which device do you use?
-
@Ondřej-Šutera this is a screenshot from desktop version, using Chrome browser. i've tried to click & drag but does not work
-
@zredden Do you have device with the touch screen?
-
@Ondřej-Šutera i do but it's plugged into a docking station. i just tried using the touch screen feature and it did work. is there a way around this? thanks
-
@zredden We are aware of this and colleagues are planning to solve this. However, it is a bit limited to use mobile version of Windy with a mouse right now.
-
Same problem, using a laptop with a touch screen, but plugged into a docking station. Would much prefer the desktop version of the webpage be the default, much better access to the features I use.
-
I have a problem when using the site with Firefox on Windows 10 whereby the bottom red bar (which I presume was added today/yesterday) blocks part of the view:
The problem does not affect Chrome (apparently the Chrome interface has not been changed).

@Ondřej-Šutera At the moment all the same with all browsers
Brave
Chrome
Opera
Avast browserAll come up with mobile interface

I, too, get today the mobile version on my desktop chrome browser. Tried to play with the resolution to make it understand that this is a desktop, but this did not work. Checked with incognito and another browser account - did not help - so it is not a cookies issue. It is a touchscreen so I can move the timeline down below, but not using my mouse. I loved the weather picker of the desktop version, and in general the new interface is less useful than the previous one. Hope that you solve this bug fast.

on many different web browsers, on a route doesn’t work weather simulation as before. We couldn’t see weather forecast on each legs/time frame. Jest yesterday all was working fine.

The new version not working on Windows Surface 7. The bar with the days does not scroll and not working for sure in a fixed PC. Sorry but this improvement is terrible and not functioning. Why this massive change without a beta test period? My suggestion for you is to come back to the old version and open the new version in a beta test period so you can improve the new web interface before changing drastically, then you can change when the web interface will work... Ciao Alex

Terrible, terrible, new interface, not ready for prime time, give me the old one back again!
-
Yes, the new time band makes Windy practically useless for me. Previously, it was easy to click on a particular time in the forecast appropriate to my take off time that day. Now, no longer. Give me the old interface that allows direct mouse clicks. I'll be cancelling my premium subscription if this isn't fixed soon. (Windows 11 Home, v22H2)

@brettkan good day, as captain on big vessel i agree with you completely,With previous version i could also right click and change waypoints and make a route and distances from places to place by lat and long.
This version is uselles comparing to old one.
Can we get old one back as was in many ways much more user friendly and lot if other thing we were able to do - now we cant.
wrgds from Atlantic Ocean near Ponta Delgada where is really bad weather- with older version i could make bad weather avoidance with this one - NO WAY. -

I am on an Apple iPad and use the web version as it allowed access to the different layers without having to take as many actions and press in multiple places, as is required on the App. I prefer this, as the screen is large enough not to need the mobile version.
I’ve requested the Desktop version in Safari, but am getting the mobile version. I tried the beta test and the web version was working for Safari on my iPad, so I thought this change was not going to impact me.
I don’t understand why this update was implemented for tablets, as we can use the app if we want the mobile version. Forcing the mobile version on tablet web browsers significantly decreases functionality.
Please restore the ability for tablets to access the web version on browsers.
Perhaps a future improvement to the app version would be the option for the user to select either web based or app based format.

Here is the list of things that are wrong with the new interface on the new desktop web browser version. I, for one, thought the old desktop experience was nearly perfect. My main suggestion would be to go back to that layout for the desktop web version wherever possible.
-
Persistent "Download app" button is blocking part of the map and a desktop web user will never need to click that button. Remove it for desktop users.
-
The bottom timeline is not scrollable or selectable with a mouse. With landscape oriented monitors, the new extra height blocks too much of the already limited vertical space.
-
The weather picker moving with the map was already a point of the mobile app that I did not like. The old version that kept the weather picker at the last clicked location was much better for keeping the same view of the map while getting data from different locations. The new crosshair design is way too big and also blocks data when all I want is the map with visualization. I would prefer the weather picker to only appear when the map is clicked. The top window that pops up is, again, a huge waste of limited vertical space on landscape monitors.
-
Bring back the right hand sidebar with layers, altitude slider bar, options for different weather models, etc. Pretty much all of it. Now that it's hidden away it takes many extra clicks to do the formerly simple tasks. This sidebar leaves plenty of room for viewing the map on landscape monitors. The new organization of layers is also cumbersome. "Long press" to add to favorites is not available when using a desktop PC.
-
Scroll bar on forecast timeline covers the bottom data. This bar is no longer click and drag-able like before.
-
Get rid of the unnecessary nested menus that now require multiple clicks to switch between views (basic, airgram, etc) and weather models.
-
The mouseover popups for paragliding spots no longer appear. These were useful to get site information. I see that the weather picker now shows the name of the site, but the description is no longer available.
-
Bring back the right-click, "show forecast for this location" Moving the now extremely cumbersome weather picker to a location is not practical, especially when I would like the map to display a certain area and explore data in that field of view.
I'm sure I'll find more bugs and suggestions, but I'll just reiterate that the next desktop experience is worse in nearly every single way that changed. I do appreciate the isoline options being easier to access, that was the one thing I would have liked changed before:
Keep this. This is good. -

Hi, we are sorry about this issue in the desktop version, where the design for mobile platforms show up mainly for all devices with the touch display. Our colleagues are working on a fix right now.
In general, the desktop version is mainly same as the previous one, so you don't have to worry about the version that you see right now. I am really sorry about any inconvenience right now.
