Understanding the Compare Forecast Feature in Windy.com
-
@Korina mostly I use ECMWF in combination with ICON, suits me best
-
@Korina I'm using Icon-D2 for near-Prague location.
-
I use ECMWF mostly, occasionally use Compare to get a feel for possible different outcomes. While I'm here, I also much prefer the "Meteog" view over "Basic". Would it be possible to allow users the option to make that the default? Thanks for absolutely the best weather app ever!

@Korina ecmwf and ICON D2

I am in Australia and use the Access model which has a low resolution. I would be interested to see if other models give a more accurate picture.
-
@Korina In Portugal we trust in ECMWF
-
I sail in the Mediterranean and use ECMWF the most closely followed by meteoblue because I find them the most accurate.
-
I typically use the ECMWF model for the Salish Sea, but I also check the other models when needed. When traveling to places like Fiji, I use all of the models to see what seems to be best.
-
@Jonathan-Finen ECMWF in Northern Germany.
-
HRRR is my preferred model.
-
@Korina ecwmf in Canada b/c it's the most consistent forecast model for me and my area of Canada.
-
I use the AROME model for East Germany.
-
@Korina AROME in italy.

I’ve enjoyed comparing the 6 models: ECMWF, GFS, Metroblue, HRRR, NAM and ICON, taking into account the time of the last update.
While I like the broad picture of some, I’ve also noticed some internal discrepancies, like the map view vs the Compare text. But with regards to what’s predicted and what actually happens for my location, I’m finding that both the NAM and the ICON often agree, hard to believe given the locations, and when they do, they are correct. Aside from that my overall choice is NAM
My location is the Northeast USA. -
I almost always use ECMWF for New Zealand
-
@Korina my preferred model is the ECMWF. It works well for New Zealand.
-
I prefer the ECMWF model, but I use the compare tools everyday
-
ECMWF is the model working best for me, where I am.
-
I use the ECMWF model the most for my guiding activities in the Austrian Alps. Also I use the comparison feature to see if there could be unwanted surprises because of the volatile weather situation.
-
@Korina mostly ECMWF but i compare it with meteoblue and Icon
