Understanding the Compare Forecast Feature in Windy.com
-
I use the ECMWF model, and when the forecast is of especial importance to me, I compare it to other models to check my confidence in the prediction.
-
@Korina Reed Timmer is my weather model.
-
I believe ECMWF is the most accurate one for my sailing region (The Med). Very accurate, unless the wind is light, in which case I think it is more difficult for any model to be as precise.
-
Ecmwf Is perfect for me. Bologna, Italy
-
For the Australian region, my order of preference is ECMWF then AccessG.
I use the "Compare Table" and "Wind Meteogram" regularly as a poor man's ensemble forecast tool for point locations.
Keep up the good work :)
-
@Korina I use the AROME forecast model for the region of the alps a lot.
-
@Korina I've started to use the met one in Wales UK . But early days.
Thanks. -
ECMWF works pretty well, here in Hawaii , where unless it is a major storm approaching, every forecast is a guess.
-
I use in Hungary the ECMWF model the most.
-
accuracy of forecasts depends on current and historical data.
windy fails to upload international pws' s!!
wu is currently most accurate forecast. -
For Northern Europe ICON matches best the observed weather. D2 for short time forecasts and ICON EU otherwise.
ECMWF is a step down but otherwise second best. With Arome in France and other neighbouring countries I had mixed experiences. -
For me, the ECMWF model is (mostly wind( in central europe region the most reliable one - used for paragliding :)
-
We absolutely love Windy, using the ECWF model here as we sail up and down the East Coast of Australia. Thank you for making such a good technical but very easy to use app. Team LAKOA !
-
@Korina I use the "compare" summary most, alongside swell predictions as I have non sailing spouce I have to be sure conditions at sea will not uduely upset her. David
-
In the med , it is ECMWF for me.
-
For me ECMWF was the primary one for a long time (based on information about different models given in the application) - but since a year ago I actually use compare every time I check weather. I actually got used to it so much that I would like to have compare as a default mode in the application.
-
In the UK I use ICON-D2 and UKV if we have "normal" south westerlies, but when the wind goes into the east often METEROBLUE gives a more reliable prediction.
-
I usually look on the ECMWF but when the conditions tends to become unstable I compare the models in the app.
During exceptional uncertain conditions I use three extra governmental services, but still telly on the ECMWF as the median.
-
I mostly look at ECMWF which seems to be the most reliable in Barcelona Spain
-
Of the forecasts on windy, I use the ecmwf the most. Please add the Canadian GEM-Global (gdps)
