Icon-d2 Most of the time is the better choice although GFS or Meteo are a Bit mir accurate when IT comes to temperatre

I generally use the ECMWF model here in Atlanta, and compare against the GFS.

I use a ECMWF for the most part. I’m a pilot flying at altitudes from 5000 to 10,000 feet. Accuracy is critical, being able to compare differentials would be excellent. Cloud coverage, cloud bases, freezing altitude, at various Altitudes is critical. I’m usually looking at trends 12 hrs to 72 hrs in advance.

Hi, as a french windsurfer traveling in western Europe as usually use GFS model but I am not sure it is locally recalculated or adjusted to take local specificities (venturi effect, thermal wind... ) into account. And of course I use Windy ! I love it! Thx

@Korina I mostly use the ECMWF model, which is reasonably accurate for the area (Sardinia). I always check the compare feature though.

I use ECMWF most often especially in the Gulf of Alaska and offshore Pacific. The new HRRR model has consistently been accurate in coastal Alaska in predicting "williwas" from the mountains.

@Korina Some models are better than others at particular locations. What would be helpful is to be able to compare models to actual past weather data to select the best one for different situations (seasonal, transitory weather events, extreme weather events, etc.). Could you add that feature?

To answer your question, I use ECMWF for the Salt Lake City, Utah, USA area. However, I'm not convinced that it's the best model.
